Studied Fine Art at St. Martins College of Art, London and National College of Art, Dublin. Diploma in Fine Art (Painting) National College of Art, Dublin 1958.
Taught Fine Art at National College of Art 1959-1977.
Elected Associate Royal Hibernian Academy 1969.
Elected Member Royal Hibernian Academy 1975.
Keeper Royal Hibernian Academy 1978-1988.
President Watercolour Society of Ireland 1981-1994.
Trustee National Self-Portrait Collection 1981-1988
Member Board of Governors and Guardians National Gallery of Ireland 1984-1993.

Areas of Specialisation:
Landscape and figurative painting in oils and watercolour, self-portraits and portrait commissions.

His vision is that of the Poet Painter. He paints from nature and has a special affinity for the beaches of North County Dublin, the River Liffey and the Connemara landscape. His watercolours are mainly painted in Greece, Spain and Thailand.
