Eithne Carr RHA

Eithne Carr was born in Dublin and studied in the National College of Art and Design from 1979 to 1983. She was awarded an honours degree in Fine Art and History of Art. Since 1983 Eithne has spent lengthy work periods in New Mexico, California, Greece and Australia.

Her work is a direct and personal response to the seen world which she translates into sensuous painted images with heightened colour and expressive brushwork. She has had five one person shows in Dublin, the most recent being in the Ashford Gallery in 2003. He work is in all public collections in Ireland and in private collections in Ireland, England and U.S.A.

She was elected to the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1997. She served on the RHA Council 1997-1999 and on the board of the National Gallery of Ireland 1999-2002. She maintains a studio in New Art Studies, Dublin 7
